The latest from the political polarization front: Bruce McPherson, 68, the former California secretary of state who’s running for Santa Cruz County board of supervisors, is bolting the Republican Party. He’s re-registered as “no party preference,” aka independent. He tells the LA Times that “people are fed up” with hyper-partisanship, adding: “But I’m not going to do Republican bashing because the left wing of the Democratic Party is guilty of the same thing.”
