Not exactly the vote of confidence a baseball player can hang his cap on. Especially Manny Ramirez, trying to make a comeback with the A’s from a 50-game doping suspension. But it was apparently the best thing A’s assistant GM David Forst could come up with on short notice, after the front office announced the end of the Manny era in Oakland . . . before it even started? Talk about hype.
