The state’s cash-starved court system is falling apart. And in Stockton last week the state pulled the plug on the scheduled 2014 construction of a desperately-needed new San Joaquin County Superior Court building. Then officials from Sacramento came and saw first hand horrific overcrowding so bad that, among other things, a non-working elevator had been pressed into service as a holding cell. Bottom line, says the Stockton Record, the new courthouse was put back in the 2014 construction lineup.
