  • No BART service between San Francisco and the East Bay this morning as crews scramble to repair equipment damaged in a fire near West Oakland station. The Bay Bridge,  meanwhile, was/is an early morning parking lot. Mercury News
  • A San Francisco couple appeared in court Wednesday charged with tracking down and killing their 17-year-old daughter’s alleged pimp near Candlestick Park. Chronicle
  • Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the venerable Silicon Valley venture firm, is denying allegations of gender discrimination lodged against the firm in a lawsuit by one of its female partners. Mercury News.
  • A state audit provided more bad news for Oakland charter schools founder and businessman Ben Chavis, suggesting numerous irregularities in the schools’ operations. Oakland Tribiune
  • Why freeway onramp panhandling, curbed when Gavin Newsom was mayor, is thriving again in San Francisco. Chronicle
