  • Investigators are exploring whether arson was to blame for the construction site fire near West Oakland BART station that led to yesterday’s transbay transportation meltdown. Chronicle
  • With lots of last-minute negotiating a given, state lawmakers today are expected to vote on the final shape of Gov. Jerry Brown’s budget to try and deal with California’s $15.7 billion deficit. Contra Costa Times
  • Cupertino released new details of the planned ring-shaped Apple corporate headquarters that when built is to take up 2.8 million square feet over four stories. Mercury News
  • A report commissioned by Oakland is heavily critical of police for being ill-prepared to handle Occupy protesters, for mishandling events as they unfolded and for failing to investigate officers whose misconduct might have warranted criminal prosecution. Oakland Tribune
  • The father of a slain pimp allegedly killed by the San Francisco parents of a 17-year-old girl who had turned to prostitution says his son didn’t deserve vigilante justice. Chronicle
