Add a little behind-the-scenes pressure from organized labor and what do you get? A break in the 2-2 split on the Alameda Board of Supervisors over whom to appoint as former supe Nadia Lockyer’s interim replacement. Former Union City councilman Richard Valle got the nod this morning over Newark councilwoman (and early odds-on favorite) Ana Apodaca after supes Keith Carson and Scott Haggerty flipped their votes to go along with fellow supes Wilma Chan and Nate Miley. It will be Valle’s seat to defend in November; Apodaca says she won’t be among the candidates. (That’s Valle during last week’s supervisors round, when the vote was deadlocked.) Chronicle
