Some unexpected good news for the Oakland A’s (or bad news for those who subscribe to the Lew Wolf sabotage theory): Attendance this year is up. A third into the season, the A’s are averaging 20,218, up 2,358 fans a game over this time last year. That’s despite their being in last place in the AL West. Observes San Francisco Business Times’ Eric Young:
With Manny Ramirez close to joining the club, Yoenis Cespedes off the disabled list today and a number of popular teams coming to Oakland -- including San Francisco, Boston and New York -- the club has a good chance to improve over last year’s fan tally of 1.48 million.
