Columnist: Can bakery co-owner save Mayor Lee’s half-baked hospital deal?

Friday, July 27, 2012

Word that Mayor Ed Lee has brought in Boudin Bakery co-owner Lou Giraudo to help get the proposed California Pacific Medical Center deal out of the ditch (rumor of which was first floated by Chronicle columnist and mayoral pal Willie Brown) is triggering food analogies. San Francisco Business Times columnist Chris Rauber calls the hospital deal a “half-baked mess” and says it reminds him of the lyrically-challenged song “MacArthur Park” (with its cake left out in the rain), adding:

As does the concept that a civic leader and bread company owner could save the day for CPMC and Mayor Ed Lee and revive the at-least-temporarily moribund project. But stranger things have probably happened in the City by the Bay.
