Digg, long irrelevant, liquidates for chump change

That’s co-founder Kevin Rose during happier times. In 2008 the San Francisco-based news aggregator was the talk of the town, and Google was rumored to be interested in it for something on the order of $200 million. Today it sold for relative pennies: $500,000 to Betaworks, which plans to re-staff it with folks from its social news digest and app service, News.me. R.I.P. LA Times
