Ka-ching: PG&E asks for $2 billion in rate increases over 3 years

PG&E, whose goodwill has plummeted amid revelation after revelation of poor record keeping and botched operations in the wake of the San Bruno disaster, today proposed to charge customers $2 billion more over the next three years. It says it needs the money to upgrade its gas and electricity networks and hire 2,200 more employees. Instant pushback: A consumer advocate says that, if approved, average bill increases would be “staggering.” Mercury News
