The Mary Hayashi image makeover has been in overdrive for a couple of months, with the Castro Valley Assemblywoman churning out press releases (a lot of them via PRWeb) at the drop of a Neiman Marcus hat. Her latest: a “free pet fair” outside Hayward City Hall over the weekend. It’s almost as if Hayashi, who’s termed out of office in December, wants people to forget she’s on probation for shoplifting while gearing up to run for Nadia Lockyer’s old seat on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
