Mayor Lee to chicken chain: stay away from San Francisco

Friday, July 27, 2012

After mayors in Chicago and Boston did it, Mayor Ed Lee has decided to grab some low-hanging headline fruit, too, and direct a little meaningless trash talk to fast-food chain Chik-fil-A. Its company president has caused a stir by his public opposition to gay marriage. Tweets Hiz Honor:

“Closest #ChickFilA to San Francisco is 40 miles away & I strongly recommend that they not try to come any closer.” – @mayoredlee

“Very disappointed #ChickFilA doesn’t share San Francisco’s values & strong commitment to equality for everyone.” – @mayoredlee

The mayor doesn’t say anything about trying to call out the National Guard, but if so he might want to reassess the threat. There’s a Chick-fil-A under construction in Walnut Creek, so his 40-mile zone is already toast.
