Michael Bauer’s dinner with Nancy Pelosi

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

The Chronicle’s Michael Bauer knows food, no arguing that. And he even writes about it well. But maybe someone should have helped him not get so giddy about his three-hour dinner with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at Aziza the other night.

Barely three paragraphs in, he writes that the congresswoman “has been one of my idols” and reminds us that “she’s become one of the most powerful people in Washington.”

An excerpt from Inside Scoop SF:
The dinner came about because my friend Marlene Sorosky Gray remembered me saying on a radio interview that I dreamed of dining with Pelosi. Marlene decided to deliver Pelosi to the table for my birthday, which would seem like a nearly impossible task when dealing with someone of Pelosi’s stature.
He says “the conversation came easily, mostly due to her astute political skills.” And the ender:
Note: Sorry some of the shots aren’t that great; I didn’t want to take too much time to set the photos up, and I forgot to take a picture of the chocolate prune dessert.
