Regents freeze UC tuition for now, with eye on November

UC regents, meeting in San Francisco today, voted to freeze undergraduate tuition at $12,192 for the coming school year. But if voters reject Gov. Jerry Brown’s tax increases—which the regents formally endorsed—they will likely raise tuition mid-year. Grad students didn’t fare as well. The regents jacked up fees for 57 graduate professional schools. The two regents who voted against the grad fee hikes? Student regent Jonathan Stein and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom. AP; Sac Bee
