Tim Lincecum’s new low-water mark

Sunday, July 8, 2012

After being pounded for seven hits and six earned runs in three and a third innings in today’s 13-2 blowout at Pittsburgh, Tim Lincecum is now statistically the worst starting pitcher in Major League Baseball going into the All-star break. His ERA: a painful 6.42. Today’s was his 10th loss of the year.

Will the Giants continue to start the former ace and two-time Cy Young winner? Not if it were up to the Chronicle’s Henry Shulman, evidently, who tweets:

"You guys know I'm not a big lover of WAR, but even without numbers I know Gs can do better w/ any starter from Fresno replacing Lincecum."
