Chronicle shines some light Ron Conway’s way

Monday, August 27, 2012

The Chronicle takes a look at Silicon Valley investor Ron Conway and the long shadow he casts as a key behind-the-scenes player with Mayor Ed Lee’s administration. (It isn’t all Willie Brown and Rose Pak.) From the Heather Knight piece:

A public records request for all e-mails between Conway and Lee or senior members of the mayor's staff shows the angel investor is in frequent contact with City Hall and that his missives - riddled with all capital letters and lots of exclamation points - carry significant weight.

He issued his own invitations to Lee's inauguration, helped orchestrate subsequent press events related to technology announcements such as the mayor's hiring of the city's first chief innovation officer, and meets regularly with the mayor and his staff.
