There’s news about maybe the most famous Alcatraz alum (1959-63) still living, Irish-American mobster and ex-fugitive James 'Whitey' Bulger. That’s his photo from his days on The Rock. You may recall that Bulger, 83, was arrested last year living incognito with longtime companion Catherine Grieg in a modest Santa Monica apartment complex. That’s after a neighbor struck up a conversation with Grieg about her cat. (The neighbor, a former Miss Iceland, stood to collect a $2 million reward, by the way).Now comes word from AP that Bulger plans to testify at his trial in Boston next year on charges that he participated in 19 murders. His attorney will apparently argue that Bulger was given immunity from any crimes he committed while he was a top-level FBI informant.
