Fiona Ma pushes special interest bill—to improve her commute

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

The assemblywoman, who commutes to Sacramento from her San Francisco district, wants to make it easier to go eastbound as a solo driver. So she’s introduced AB200 to eliminate the eastbound carpool lane in the mornings on I-80 between the Bay Bridge and the Carquinez Bridge. The Chronicle’s Matier & Ross say that El Cerrito’s city council opposes it, saying it “flies in the face of efforts to reduce greenhouse gases and encourage public transit.”

No matter. Ma’s bill has passed the Assembly and is awaiting a vote by the state Senate.
