In wealthy Piedmont, a battle brews over chickens

Who says nothing much happens in the leafy enclave surrounded by Oakland where President Obama dined with wealthy donors the other day? City planners are about to take up the issue of whether to continue to allow backyard chickens. There’s a hearing Aug. 13. In case you wondered, chickens are legal in Piedmont; elephants, wolves and cheetahs are expressly prohibited, Piedmont Patch says.
