No takers for ex-Ukrainian prime minister’s palatial Marin estate

Thursday, August 9, 2012

That’s a tough group of bargain hunters who turned out at Marin Civic Center today for a crack at jailed former Ukrainian prime minister Pavlo Lazarenko’s long-vacant 19,000-square-foot Novato mansion. Even with the price slashed from $8 million to $2 million, folks turned up their noses when tax collector Roy Given did his thing. The Marin IJ’s Nels Johnson says it didn’t take long:

"Going once!" Given declared. The audience sat in silence. "Going twice!" No one stirred. "No sale!" he exclaimed.
