San Rafael priest arrested after allegedly offering sex to undercover ranger

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

A San Rafael priest pleaded not guilty Monday to lewd conduct after being arrested by an undercover ranger at China Camp State Park during a sting aimed at lewd behavior there. The Rev. Feliciano Torres Mofan, 58, appeared in court on charges of lewd conduct and being nude in a state park, the Marin IJ says. He was released on his own recognizance after being jailed over the weekend.

The incident is said to have occurred Thursday evening when the priest, who has retired status and lives at the Church of St. Isabella in Terra Linda, allegedly approached the ranger and propositioned him for sex, then exposed himself.

From the IJ:

The undercover ranger and another ranger nearby arrested the suspect and identified him as Mofan. When asked for his occupation at the jail, Mofan identified himself as a priest.
