Brown signs Ma’s bill enabling SF to export garbage to Solano County

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Solano County voters approved an initiative back in 1984 to limit the amount of garbage that can be imported into the county. Assemblywoman Fiona Ma of San Francisco introduced a bill this session to usurp local authority and thus clear the way for San Francisco to export more of its waste there. And now Gov. Jerry Brown, to the chagrin of environmentalists and others, has signed it. Capitol Alert

It’s a dubious week of distinction for Ma: The governor over the weekend vetoed her much-maligned anti-carpool lane bill that would have eased her commute to Sacramento.
