Writer/book agent Pam van Hylckama Vlieg, who blogs as Bookalicious, tweets that she loves her job at San Francisco literary agency Larsen Pomada and doesn’t plan to let what happened Thursday scare her off. She was in her car in San Jose when a man knocked off the rear view mirror, then reached inside and violently shoved her against the steering wheel. He fled after one of her dogs bit him.

She at first thought it was a carjacking attempt. San Jose police, after asking to examine her email, thought otherwise. They noticed a particularly threatening missive from someone whose book she rejected. As the LA Times posts, the cops set out to pay the would-be author a visit and to see if he might have any dog bites.

The screen grab from Vlieg’s Twitter page tells the tale.
