Lumiere Theatre, the indie film house, to close

The chopped up three-screener on the  California Street cable car line at Polk Street will shutter Sunday after owner Landmark Theatres of Los Angeles loses its lease. It opened in 1991 with River Phoenix and “My Own Private Idaho” (pictured). It’ll go out with “The Untouchables.” Chronicle
