MediaNews’ next Bay Area frontier: teaching people how to blog

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Up next for the Mercury News and its Oakland Tribune edition—classes to teach the public how to blog. It’s presumably part of parent MediaNews Group’s mantra to derive up to a third of the content for its news operations from the public (read: content providers who work for free.)

Here’s an excerpt from a blurb by former Oakland Trib editor Martin G. Reynolds, who now heads “engagement” for the Merc and its sibling newspaper editions in the Bay Area:

Have you read one of the millions of blogs on the Internet and thought, "I could do that!"?

Are you looking for new ways to connect with clients or colleagues? A blog can be an excellent tool for creating the narrative you want expressed.

If you are a beginning blogger or have never blogged but want to learn how, these free classes are for you.
