Mercury News looks at a “limited sampling” of pay and pension data that show more than 50 people double-dipping at Bay Area governments. The piece by Thomas Peele and Jon Woolfolk leads with former San Jose police chief William Lansdowne, who retired in 2003, went to San Diego to become chief, and now earns a combined $400,000 a year.
Some of the dippers might surprise you. Former U. S. Attorney General Ed Meese, from the Reagan years, receives two California pensions.
