Survey: Mayor Lee’s popularity falls; supe candidates fight for crumbs

Monday, September 10, 2012

A new survey commissioned by the police officers union shows Mayor Ed Lee’s popularity falling sharply, from a 60 percent-plus favorable rating a little more than a year ago to 49 percent now. But maybe more revealing is what it shows about the incredibly small universe of support claimed by candidates in those mini-fiefdoms better known as San Francisco’s supervisorial districts.

Case in point: District 5 Supervisor Christina Olague, the mayor’s appointee to Ross Mirkarimi’s old seat, is the “frontrunner” at a mere 13 percent, with seven others claiming 7 percent or less. The kicker: 49 percent of District 5 voters don’t know who the candidates are. Chronicle
