The state’s biggest corporate tax deadbeat, 
Walnut Creek physician Dr. Baldomero De Leon Jr., who owes $4.1 million to the Franchise Tax Board, got a surprise visit from a reporter at The Bay Citizen the other day. But the doctor said he didn’t have time to talk and then threatened to call the police if reporter Matt Drange didn’t get out of his office.
The TBC piece explores how, despite the state’s deep fiscal hole, people who owe a lot in taxes rarely face sanctions. The state says it hasn’t attempted to revoke Leon’s medical license because it’s a personal license and his taxes are owed by his company.
