A day after the Bay Guardian
pulled its endorsement of District 5 supervisorial candidate and Progressive darling Julian Davis amid allegations that he groped a woman six years ago, the San Francisco Examiner, its sibling publication on the mainstream side of the room, has
followed suit. (The Bay Guardian actually went further, urging Davis to drop out of the race.)
SF Weekly, which
broke the story about the groping allegation, says Examiner publisher Todd Vogt, who is also publisher of the Bay Guardian, says he “was never in favor of either papers’ endorsement and I made it clear to both the editorial staffs they better be sure before making that endorsement.”
Guess not.
