A’s improbable finish to a season lifted from a movie

Thursday, October 4, 2012

A couple of improbable numbers associated with the A’s AL West winning 12-5 triumph over the Rangers yesterday. They won their last six games, including a 3-0 sweep of the Rangers. They trailed by five games with less than 10 games to play, becoming the first Major League team to win a division after trailing by so much so late. And there was also this: 36,067, the sellout crowd on hand at the Coliseum.

Playoffs: A’s begin their best of five at Detroit Saturday; the Giants start their best of five at home against Cincinnati Saturday night. Mercury News; Chronicle
