The state treasurer had quietly campaigned for the job but this morning the 23-campus California State University system announced that Tmothy P. White, currently chancellor at Cal State Riverside, will get the $421,500 post. White, 63, replaces Charles Reed, who’s retiring after 14 years. Now the speculation will begin over the 71-year-old Lockyer’s next political move, and just how much his estranged wife Nadia’s facing meth charges in Southern California played in his not getting Cal State’s top job.
