Chevron’s latest investment: trying to buy Richmond’s City Council

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

The political campaign committee dubbed “Moving Forward,” which has thrown $1.2 million behind getting three candidates elected to the refinery town’s council in November, describes itself as a “coalition of labor unions, small business, public safety and firefighters associations.” Sure, except that all of the $1.2 million has come from Chevron. Contra Costa Times writes about it.

Is this what the oil giant’s commercials mean when they boast of pumping money into local communities?
