Madonna packed the house twice over the weekend in San Jose, including last night’s performance at HP Pavilion, but didn’t get much love from Mercury News music critic Jim Harrington. An excerpt:
The set list was weak. The new songs were forgettable. The old favorites were dressed up in different arrangements, most of which were awful. And the theatrics -- such a big part of a Madonna concert -- ranged from dreadful to dull.
Making it worse, he says, the 54-year-old singer didn’t make it on stage until 10:30, 2 1/2 hours after scheduled showtime.
