  • On the day when supervisors are to decide whether suspended Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi keeps his job for bruising his wife’s arm during an argument, the Chronicle editorializes that he should be ousted.
  • Oakland will try calling in suspected gang members for a community summit-type meeting meant to convince them to help stop street violence, part of the so-called Operation Ceasefire campaign. Oakland Tribune
  • During a fundraising haul in San Francisco President Obama says he intends to win re-election but that “we’re only going to do it if everybody is almost obsessive for the next 29 days.” Chronicle
  • At a time when a number of Bay Area cities are ditching their traffic light cameras, Oakland is considering adding more. Chronicle
