The Oakland Tribune (which publishes as an edition of the Mercury News) has endorsed former Union City mayor Mark Green for the Alameda County Board of Supervisors seat until recently held by disgraced former supervisor Nadia Lockyer. In doing so, it barely mentions Richard Valle, the incumbent interim supervisor appointed to replace Lockyer after she quit following a drug and sex scandal.
As for another disgraced politician in the race with far more campaign cash and name recognition than anyone else, the editorial says:
Scratch Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi, D-Castro Valley, from the list. We reject the idea of replacing a drug addict with a convicted shoplifter -- especially one who this week still refused to admit her illegal actions despite her recent conviction.
