Ominous sign for Brown tax plan: Poll shows Prop 30 slips below 50 percent

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Less than two weeks from election day and Gov. Jerry Brown’s measure to avoid draconian budget cuts by increasing taxes on the rich and boosting the state sales tax by a quarter percent now appears to be failing. A new Public Policy Institute of California poll shows 48 percent support and 44 percent opposed among likely voters.

Noted: The poll shows the governor’s approval rating holding steady at 45 percent among likely voters. Meanwhile, disapproval of the state Legislature is at 68 percent. Capitol Alert
