After Jerry’s win, aide’s message to Gavin: ‘Are you lonesome tonight?’

Friday, November 9, 2012

Had Prop 30 failed, there were plenty of people thinking that Jerry Brown would be serving his last term. Instead . . . well, as a situationer in the LA Times today points out, he’s rejuvenated and with a huge new stockpile of political capital. And you’ve got to wonder if that caught Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom by surprise, considering the way he positioned himself as Brown critic and candidate-in-waiting in recent weeks. Consider this nugget in the LAT piece:

As it became clear in the wee hours Wednesday that Proposition 30 would pass, Brown's press secretary had a message for Newsom in the form of a tweet.

It was a link to Elvis Presley performing "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
