Christina Olague looks like toast in hotly contested District 5

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Looks like Christina Olague’s stint as District 5 supervisor may be over. Challenger London Breed declared herself the victor late Tuesday and even though Olague so far hasn’t conceded, her campaign manager says the supervisor appears to have lost, “barring some sort of miracle.”

If it goes down that way it will have been a political roller coaster for Olague. Appointed by the mayor to replace Ross Mirkarimi when he became sheriff, she was criticized as an Ed Lee lackey, then crossed the mayor by voting to spare Mirkarimi from losing his job only to have apparently been done-in by deep-pocketed pals of Lee, including tech investor Ron Conway.
