Chronicle op-ed from one who isn’t drinking the Warriors’ arena Kool-Aid

Friday, November 9, 2012

Count former city chief administrative officer and deputy mayor Rudy Nothenberg as a big fan of the Warriors returning to San Francisco—but not in the waterfront arena that owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber (pictured with Mayor Ed Lee) want to build. An excerpt from his Chronicle op-ed:

Since the bay-blocking Fontana high-rises were put up on the northern waterfront decades ago, an unwritten covenant has said that no part of the city will ever again be subject to high-rise construction blocking waterfront or beaches. This development violates that covenant in order to generate an uncertain amount of city revenues.
