Commonwealth Club to lay down roots on the Embarcadero

Friday, November 2, 2012

The century-old Commonwealth Club of California, which bills itself as the nation’s oldest public affairs forum, will soon have a place to call its own. It has bought the historic former home of the International Longshoremen’s Association at No. 110 on The Embarcadero and will spend about the same amount to refurbish. Plans call for multiple auditoriums and meeting spaces to fit up to 275 people.

Besides its weekly radio broadcast heard on public and commercial stations across the country, the club holds regular events in San Francisco and San Jose, as well as Lafayette in the East Bay. SF Business Times
