A food bank in Sacramento gave away free turkeys and canned goods yesterday and 6,000 people showed up, forming a line that stretched for 10 blocks. A 62-year-old widow, the first person quoted in the Sacramento Bee’s story, tells the newspaper: “We are living in hard times.”
