Ignacio De La Fuente crushed by Rebecca Kaplan

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

The 20-year veteran councilmember who’s made no secret of his ambition to be Oakland’s mayor rolled the dice to challenge Rebecca Kaplan for the city’s at-large council seat, and it appears he’s come up snake eyes. Through five rounds of instant-runoff voting, Kaplan received 60.7 percent to De La Fuente’s 39.3 percent. Still, with 140,000 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots to be counted in Alameda County, and with no way of knowing how many pertain to Oakland, he’s not conceding. Oakland Tribune; Chronicle
