The 20-year veteran councilmember who’s made no secret of his ambition to be Oakland’s mayor rolled the dice to challenge Rebecca Kaplan for the city’s at-large council seat, and it appears he’s come up snake eyes. Through five rounds of instant-runoff voting, Kaplan received 60.7 percent to De La Fuente’s 39.3 percent.
