Oakland homicides threatening to surpass 2008, feds recommend 8-year sentence for ex-campaign treasurer Kinde Durkee, the Giants and Brian Wilson appear headed for a contract showdown, more.

  • With five weeks left in the year, Oakland stands at 115 homicides, on pace for the highest number of killings since 2008 when 125 people were slain. Oakland Tribune
  • A widely circulated report Monday that Google was set to buy a little-known Wifi company for $400 million was a hoax. Mercury News
  • Federal prosecutors are recommending an 8-year prison sentence for Kinde Durkee, the campaign treasurer for Sen. Dianne Feinstein and other Democrats, who pleaded guilty in March to embezzling millions of dollars.Chronicle
  • A class action lawsuit was filed by a fan who attended last week’s Katt Williams’ Oracle Arena show, where he melted down on stage and had to be hauled away by his own security after rambling, taking his clothes off and trying to attack several people in the audience. Contra Costa Times
  • The Giants and injured reliever Brian Wilson have until Friday to reach a contract agreement for next season or, as increasingly seems likely, Wilson’s days in San Francisco could be over. The Splash
