UC Regents boost pay of new Berkeley chancellor over Brown’s objections, a Golden Gate to Santa Rosa finish for 2013 Tour of California, sizing up the Bay Area’s new congressional delegation, more.

  • UC Regents voted to give new UC Berkeley chancellor Nicholas Dirks a $486,800 salary—$50,000 more than his predecessor—despite no votes from both Gov. Jerry Brown and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom. AP
