Press-Democrat sold to investor group led by lobbyist Darius Anderson

Friday, November 2, 2012

The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat is being flipped by the Florida-based media company that acquired it in January from the New York Times Co. The buyers? An investor group that includes developer and Democratic lobbyist Darius Anderson, San Francisco Chamber of Commerce CEO and former Chronicle publisher Steve Falk, former congressman Doug Bosco and Bill Hooper, president of Anderson’s development company. No terms were disclosed.

The Press-Democrat, which until January had been in the NYT family for 26 years, furnishes profiles of the new principals here. (That’s Anderson, whose Platinum Advisors has deep roots in Sacramento and San Francisco, pictured.)

Also part of the deal: Santa Rosa-based North Bay Business Journal and the weekly Petaluma Argus-Courier. The group had already acquired the Sonoma Index-Tribune. Press-Democrat; SF Business Times
