‘Royal Treasures from the Louvre’ opens at the Legion of Honor

Friday, November 16, 2012

Bust of Marie-Antoinette, 1782 “Royal Treasures from the Louvre: Louis XIV to Marie-Antoinette,” which opens this weekend (through March 17) at the Legion of Honor, begins a five-year programming agreement between France’s preeminent museum and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The backstory: The Louvre’s 18th century decorative arts galleries are being refurbished, providing a window of rare opportunity for substantial museum loans. The Chronicle’s Kenneth Baker writes about it.
