They’re “tougher, leaner and smarter than the highly-bred birds, mass-produced for the typical Thanksgiving dinner” says a Turkey Day piece posted to the Contra Costa Times website. And they’re “scratching, pecking and smashing plants, crops, lawns and golf courses in suburbs statewide.” It’s accompanied by a photo of menacing turkeys on the roof of a house in Alamo. (For the record, the unrelated turkey above is in a Massachusetts suburb, as captured by the Boston Globe.)
NBC Bay Area’s iteration of the CoCo Times piece takes the avian mayhem up a notch. It’s hed: “Wild Turkeys Taking Over Bay Area Suburbs.”
