After 40 years, Don Sanchez signs off at ABC 7

This is a bittersweet day for all of us at ABC7 News as our beloved colleague Don Sanchez is retiring, packing away his microphone after 40 years on the job.

When he arrived at the station four decades ago fresh from a station in San Luis Obispo, his prospective boss at KGO-TV told him there was maybe three weeks of work for him. Four decades later the venerable anchor-reporter retired from the station today. The popcorn box is a staple of Sanchez’s weekly movie review segment. ABC 7
