That’s Heidi Russo, 44, a registered nurse from suburban Denver, and Colin Kaepernick’s birth mother. She gave up her son for adoption when she was 19. She
tells Yahoo Sports that she’s tried unsuccessfully for years to re-connect with her son, but respects his choice not to meet. An excerpt (bracket mine):
[She] went to see Kaepernick play in-person for the first time in 2010 when his University of Nevada team played at Colorado State. "I kept looking at him, thinking our eyes might meet. He might finally see me. I kept thinking it happened, but he never came to see me after the game."
