Jerry Brown diagnosed with prostate cancer

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

The governor’s office announced the diagnosis this afternoon, along with a brief statement from Brown’s oncologist at UCSF, Dr. Eric Small:

“Fortunately, this is early stage localized prostate cancer, which is being treated with a short course of conventional radiotherapy. The prognosis is excellent, and there are not expected to be any significant side effects.”

AP is quoting Brown spokesman Gil Duran as saying the governor is continuing a full work schedule and that the treatment is expected to be over by mid-January.
